With glee we stole kites to fly
Like kids together we try
stuck in a field with no wind
as hard as I could run
it would never be enough
though for a time sun shone on us from above
a rivalry formed over whose soared the highest
the debate would never conclude
stared at the sky waiting for an answer

we ran, covered distance,
Just to make that kite dance
and our twines are - tangled in knots
it seems our flying days are over
our best efforts left us in a bind
all thats left is this birds nest
dragging tethers we lost our mind
we discarded the spool like a brat with a frown
fed up and annoyed in a fit we cast down
our sights set so high why won't this kite fly
we were fools not to see all the while
the most fun could be had on the ground
